Carolyn M. Ruter, 79, of Freeport, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the UW Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born on November 5, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of John and Margaret (Brockmeier) Stange. She married Donald Ruter on February 14, 1957, at Baileyville Reformed Church in Baileyville, IL. Carolyn retired from the FHN business office after 21 years. She was a member of the Baileyville Reformed Church, where she was very active in church activities and Bible studies. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Donald, of Freeport, IL; her daughter, Sandra (Dennis) Van Kley of Sioux Center, IA; two sons, Gary (Linda) Ruter of Shannon, IL and James "Jim" Ruter of Freeport, IL; five grandchildren, Taylor (Pamela) Van Kley, Brett Van Kley, M.D., Brady (Michele) Van Kley, Daniel Ruter, and Julie Ruter; and one great-grandson, Jack Van Kley. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Barbara. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday June 7, 2017 at the Baileyville Reformed Church. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Tuesday June 6, 2017 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
