Charles W. Hughes ("Bill"), Jr., 76, of Freeport passed away on September 26, 2017 in Freeport IL. He was the son of the late Lucille (Mest) Hughes and the late Charles W. Hughes ("Bud") Sr. He was born April 1, 1941 in Chicago, IL, grew up in Oak Park IL and raised his family in Plainfield IL. He was President & CEO of Forest Park National Bank and served on the board of The Altenheim Senior Retirement Community. He also served as President of the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce. He had served in the Army Reserves from 1962-1968. Bill married Kathy Heiserman on May 24, 1986 and they had 31 wonderful years together. Bill was an avid horseman and bred quarter horses for almost 40 years. He was a member of the AQHA and spent many years attending the annual Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus OH. He loved Arizona and we all knew he was a cowboy at heart. The best years of his life were spent in Cave Creek AZ, organizing trail rides, playing Santa Claus to the neighborhood every Christmas, and celebrating life with his beloved family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents, grand-daughter Ivy, and mother-in-law Frances Heiserman. He is survived by his wife Kathy; daughters Catherine of Chicago IL, Jennifer (Adam) Drinkall of Milledgeville IL; son Michael of AZ; brothers Larry (Bonnie) of Freeport IL, Tom (Martha) of Mt. Morris IL, sister Mary Ann (Michael) O'Brien of Poway CA.; grandchildren Lili, June & Findley Drinkall of Milledgeville and Kayley, Ashley and Zack Hughes. Visitation will be from 4:00pm - 8:00pm on Friday, September 29 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Funeral will be Saturday, September 30 from 11:00 am to Noon at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Interment will be held via private family burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
