Earl W. Ackerman

Earl W. Ackerman, 87, of Pecatonica, died Friday September 8, 2017 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Earl was born November 28, 1929 in Freeport, the son of Alvin N. and Lulu P. (Decknadel) Ackerman. Earl married Dorothy M. Wichman October 19, 1955. Mrs. Ackerman passed away October 2, 2010. Earl served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. Mr. Ackerman farmed his entire life. He was a member of Baileyville Reformed Church. He enjoyed driving around the neighborhood and was affectionately referred to as the Neighborhood... Watch. Earl was always a John Deere Man. Survivors include daughter, Beverly (Roger) Hilton of Pecatonica; four sons, Richard (Faith) of Rock City, Ronald (Donna) of Oregon; Charles (Theresa) of Pecatonica and Robert (Paula) of Pecatonica; 17 grandchildren and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine (Russell) Nieman of Freeport; son-in-law, Steve Obert of Orangeville; brother-in-law, Phillip (Mary) Wichman of Baileyville; and sister-in-law, Delores Wichman of Freeport; Earl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and daughter, Janet Obert. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday September 13, 2017 at Baileyville Reformed Church. Visitation will be Tuesday 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport.
