Glenn E. Trost

Glenn E. Trost, 91, of Freeport, went home to be with his Lord on '˜Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Glenn was born December 26, 1921 in Pleasant Valley Township, JoDaviess County, the son of William D. and Carrie (Dittsworth) Trost. On October 4, 1951, Glenn married Pauline A. Miller in Nora Community Church. Glenn quit school to help his ailing father on the farm at the age of 16 and took over the farm at the age of 19 when his father died. He continued to farm in Jo Daviess County until he 'retired' in 1983, but continued to work along side of Delvin until they quite farming in 1996. He was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. He was a quiet man who loved the Lord and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glenn also loved the Chicago White Sox. Glenn is survived by his wife, Pauline; son, Delvin (Mae) Trost of Lena; granddaughter Trisha (Dale) Forrester of Freeport; grandson Colin (Karla) Trost of Bolingbrook; and three great grandchildren, Syndee, Max, and Zoee Forrester. He is also survived by one sister, Sylvia McKinstrey of Lena; four sister-in-laws, Betty Miller of Florence Station, Lola (Babe) Baumgardt of Sterling, Mildred Mayer of Stockton, and Inez (Edward) Meiers of Chadwick; one brother-in-law, Ray Handel of Lena; and numerous nieces and nephews. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys (Harold) Schnieder; five brothers, Harry, Howard (Eva Mae), LaVern, Ellsworth 'Eddie' and Clarence (Mary) Trost; brother-in-laws, Leo McKinstrey, Robert Mayer, Harlan (Lula) Miller, Allen Miller; sister-in-laws, Sylvia (Carl) Kohl, and Eleanor Handel. Also surviving are five nephews and two nieces. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 26, 2013, at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Mark Balmer officiating. A memorial has been established for Park Hills Church in Glenn'™s memory. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Please sign the guestbook at www.burketubbs.com.
