Jimmy L. Truitt, 69, of Pearl City, died Saturday January 9, 2016 at the Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born May 3, 1946 in Sterling, IL; the son of Charles "Toby" and Rosie (Moorehead) Truitt. He married Doris Corbett on December 24, 1967. He married Joyce Workman September 12, 1993 in Rockford, IL. Jimmy worked for Northwest Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL, Thermogas, Atwood Automotive, and Newell Rubbermaid. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran upon the U.S.S. Valley Forge during the Vietnam War from December 31, 1963-December 30 1969. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, golfing, and skiing. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Joyce Truitt of Pearl City, IL; four sons, Charles (Jamie) Truitt of Earlville, IL, Chad Truitt of Polo, IL, Jason (Tina) Meador of Bolingbrook, IL, and Adam (Jenn) Meador of Galena, IL; two brothers, Charles ""Pete" (Janie) Truitt of Morrison, IL and Jody Truitt of Cedar Raids, IA; sister, Denise Griffin of Clinton, IA; four grandchildren, Amber (Brock) Decker, Tristan Truitt, Haley Meador, and Nathan Meador; and two great-granddaughters Erika and Aspen Decker. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Lee Truitt. A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday January 16, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Rev. Ellis Boughton will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M until the time of service at Burke-Tubbs.
