Joy M. Steele

Joy M. Steele, 84, of Freeport, IL, died Saturday January 23, 2016 at Manor Court of Liberty Village in Freeport. She was born July 28, 1931 in Highland, IL, the daughter of Elvin and Florence (Klaus) Foehner. She married Roger Steele December 18, 1954 in Chicago, IL; he died April 7, 2012. Joy was a poet. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church, and a former member of Community Presbyterian Church in Mt. Prospect, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and International Poets Society. Joy... is survived by her daughter Debbie (Glenn) Lapinski of Waxahachie, TX; her daughter-in-law Jeanie Steele; her grandchildren Charissa (David) Toeller, Nick (Mary) Steele, Chelsey (Kevin) Wiley and Halley Lapinski; and her great-grandchildren Luke, Jackson, and Althea Toeller, Mark Steele, and Ellia Wiley. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son Mark Steele; and her sister and brother-in-law. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 23, 2016 at Community Presbyterian Church (407 N. Main Street Mt. Prospect, IL).
