Lizzie Allen

On September 17, 1952, Lizzie Allen was the first child born to Celeste Allen and Jim Brooks, in Jonestown, MS. Lizzie moved to Chicago, IL in 1970, where she worked many years for The United States Postal Service. Lizzie was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a great friend, mentor, and confidant to so many. Lizzie never met a stranger, always welcoming and inviting to all. Lizzie was truly a PHENOMENAL WOMAN. Lizzie leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Earvin C. Allen Sr.; two daughters Antoinette (Jeffery) Dewey and Lynn Allen all of Freeport, IL; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Lizzie also leaves five sisters: Mildred (Michael) Miles of Chicago, IL, Lou Anne (Richard) Stigmond of Joliet, IL, Cherry (Tony) Burrell, Debra Allen, and Celestine Allen all of Freeport; seven brothers: Larry Allen of Freeport, IL, Thomas (Harretta) Anderson of Las Vegas, Nevada, James Anderson, Robert (Pat) Allen, Ronnie Allen, Tyrane (Rolanda) Allen all of Freeport, IL, and Tyrone Allen of Rockford, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Lizzie walked hand and hand with her mother Celeste Allen into eternal rest. Lizzie is preceded in death by her father Jim Brooks; Grandparents Pate and Virginia Allen, her grandson Nathaniel Allen; and her nephew Robbie Williams. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 16, 2016 at Faith Center (203 W. Pleasant St. Freeport, IL) with Rev. Michael Sowell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
