Lucille E. Mowery, 85, of Freeport died Saturday at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born May 9, 1927 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Ralph and Eleanor (Bloom) Bushelle. Lucille married Harlan 'Bill' Mowery on May 28, 1955 at Chicago, Illinois. He died May 10, 2006. Mrs. Mowery was employed by Bankers Mutual Life, Micro Switch, then as a bookeeper for Freeport Disposal, Freeport Recycling and Freeport Service Garage. During World War II she worked in the Ration Office. Lucille was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Lucille enjoyed playing cards, bowling, going to flea markets, taking trips to gambling boats, traveling to Arizona, spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren'™s activities. Lucille was a member of The V.F.W. Auxillary. Mrs. Mowery is survived by her two sons; Dave 'Tuna' (Susan) Mowery and Tom (Bonnie) Mowery, both of Freeport. Her daughter; Julie (Bret) Smith of Sterling, Illinois. Two brothers; John 'Jack' (Marge) Bushelle of Freeport and James (Esther) Bushelle of Beloit, Wisconsin. Her sister-in law; Anna Mae Bushelle of Mesa, Arizona. Seven grandchildren; Jessica (Nathan) Veer, Jordan(Jen Williamson, fiancee) Mowery, Mike (Vickie Schutte) Mowery, Brandi (Nick) Breed, Jenna and Heather Smith, and Rachel Schild. Seven great-grandchildren; Trevorlee and Austin Veer, Daniel, Mercedes and Michael Mowery, Ella Mae Kraft and Brody Breed. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Leona Rohde and brother, Robert Bushelle and her great-grandaughter, Kylee Veer. A funeral mass for Mrs. Mowery will be Thursday, 10:30 A.M. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Msgr. P. William McDonnell will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at Saint Thomas.
