Melvin B. Collins

Melvin B. Collins, 80, of Freeport died Thursday September 14, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph. He was born August 6, 1937 in West, MS to Joe and Bobbie (McGee) Collins. On November 23, 1957 he married Angie Fitch in Freeport. Angie passed away on November 27, 2013. Early in his life, he used to live in fear. He did not want to go to that horrible place. He sought the Lord. God came into his life one day, and gave him peace. Oh, what peace it was from his Loving Savior. He had a person that he considered a friend that worked at Kelly Springfield. He had a good friend that was a truck driver that spoke to him one day. Unlike some things that happen in this world, there was a bond that started with them, and never let go. He enjoyed watching drag racing, bowling, playing tennis, and traveling. Melvin is survived by his daughter Cindy (Carl) Marshall of Freeport; four brothers; three sisters; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 19, 2017 at Evangelistic Church of God in Christ. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his memory.
