Robin Sue Lohmeier

Robin Sue Lohmeier,of Freeport, 37, danced gracefully into Heaven on September 26, 2013, surrounded by love from her friends and family, after a short illness. Robin was born on November 14, 1975 to Ron and Pat (Brown) Lohmeier. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1994, Highland Community College in 1997, and studied Computer Information Systems at Columbia College. Robin was a tutor in the Upward Bound program, and a day care worker at the YWCA Children's Center. She was most recently the Foster Home and Adoption Coordinator for Guardian Angel Basset Rescue, an agency whose mission was very close to her heart. She and Mark personally fostered over 270 basset hounds, and made it possible for hundreds more to find their forever homes. She also had a passion for fairs, socializing, SHOPPING, Elvis, animals of all types, roller coasters, the dancer/actress Vera Ellen, fashion, shoes, and anything purple. Robin lived her life with dignity, intensity, a great sense of humor, and lived it far beyond any boundaries of her physical disability Robin is survived by her best friend and love of her life, Mark Hunziker; her mother Pat (Dan Rusk) Brown; sister Polly (Kyle) Stache; and brother Rodney (Gretchen Fagerstrom) Lohmeier. In addition, she is survived by her maternal grandfather Donald Brown Sr.; her paternal grandparents Maxine and Roy Lohmeier; numerous nieces and nephews; and a niece who is due to arrive later this year; as well as many aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends. She was predeceased by her dad, Ron Lohmeier, and her maternal grandmother, Betty Brown, as well as the dogs she recued and loved that are waiting for her over the Rainbow Bridge. Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday September 29, 2013 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will take place at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Eppylanna Cemetery.
