Ruby J. Marney

Ruby J. Marney, 81, of Freeport, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 at Presence Saint Joseph Center in Freeport. She was born in Maryville, TN, on March 29th, 1936, and married Albert Ed Marney on December 29th, 1952, in Athens, TN. They came to Illinois in the 1960's and lived in the Forreston area before moving to Freeport. Ruby was preceded in death by her late husband, Albert Ed Marney, Sr.; her eldest son, David Marney; her parents, Frank and Ellen Manning; sister, Stella Goins, and her sister, Dorothy Teffeteller. Surviving are seven children, Wanda (Riley) Bowers of Mt. Morris, Kathy Zimmerman of Monroe, WI, Ellen (Tom) Williams of Forreston, Debbie (Dave) Reed of Freeport, Albert (Connie) Marney of Forreston, Mike (Tina) Marney of Freeport, Bobby Marney of Freeport; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, James Manning of Freeport; sister, Barbara (Greg) Klein of Dubuque, IA; sister, Mary (Jerry) Patty of Knoxville, TN; and many other extended family members. Ruby worked for a number of years in the printing industry and later she and her husband were the proprietors of several businesses including an automotive repair shop and towing business in Forreston, a furniture store in Freeport, and managed numerous rental properties in Freeport. Outside of those things, her true passion in life was taking care of her family, friends, and many pets. Ruby will be missed by many but we know she is living now in the house of the Lord and has been reunited with her husband once again. Family and friends can come visit on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 1pm to 3pm at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, with a funeral service scheduled for 3pm. Pastor Dennis Jarrard of Freeport, will be officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery with a reception that will follow at the Stephenson County Farm Bureau at 210 W. Spring St, in Freeport.
