Allen James Gillette

Allen James Gillette, 93, of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday January 10, 2026, at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born October 19, 1932, in Cedarville, IL, to the late Floyd J. and Edna R. (Kryder) Gillette. Allen served in the United State Navy during the Koren War from 1952-1956. He married Sylvia Irene Marassa on March 15, 1955, at First Baptist Church in Freeport, IL. Allen owned and operated Gillette Trucking and he served on the Freeport Rural Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia of Freeport, IL; son, Brian Gillette; sister Jerry Downs; two grandchildren Kyle and Corey Gillette; and two great-grandchildren Kylen and Zyon Gillette.

Preceding Allen in death are his parents; two sons Craig and Todd Gillette; three brothers Donald Levin, Bill Levin and Keith Gillette; and sister Nancy Meck, Geraldine Deppe, and Marjorie Babcock.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M-noon on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial of cremated remains will be at Grandview Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Allen’s memory.
