Arnold L. Eder, 87, of Freeport died Wednesday, May 28, 2026, at Manor Court of Freeport.

Arnold was born September 20,1938, in Freeport, the son of Ralph and Grace ( Hartog) Eder. He married Mary Johnson on November 25, 1961, in Forreston, Illinois. She preceded him in death November 22, 2024.

Mr. Eder was employed by Bowen Oil Company in sales. He served in the Illinois National Guard. Arnold was a member St. John United Church of Christ.

He enjoyed collecting farm toys, following NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. Arnold also enjoyed talking about cars, trucks and tractors.

Surviving are his two daughters; Janet (Perry) Gigot of Grafton, Wisconsin, and Julie Miller of Apple Valley, Minnesota; brother, Ray Eder of Sumner, Iowa; sister, Arlene Eder of Freeport; four grandchildren, Joshua Gigot, Jennifer (Alex) Wheaton, Brian Miller and Katie (Kyle) Wohlowe. Also surviving is one great grandson, Gabriel Wohlowe.

In addition to his parents and wife, Arnold was preceded in death by his brother, Harold.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 3, at St. John U.C.C. Rev. Hank Fairman will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 am To time of service.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his name.
