Carolyn Amodeo

Carolyn D. Amodeo, 92, of Freeport, IL, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, at Liberty Village in Freeport. She was born on June 5, 1933, in Freeport, IL to Oliver and Matilda Wilhelms. Carolyn married S. James Amodeo on April 11, 1953 in Freeport, IL; he passed away on January 10, 1998.

While she wore many titles throughout her life, “mom” and “grandma” were the titles she cherished the most. Her family was always her greatest joy and her proudest achievement. Above all else, her favorite way to spend her time was in the company of her family and friends. Carolyn was proud of growing up on the Wilhelms family farm and of all the achievements of her children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her family and all who have had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the stories they share, the games they play, and the love they continue to carry for her.

Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Karen (John) Filippi of Valley, NE and Amy Amodeo of Clearwater, FL; and by her three sons, Jaime (Ivy) Amodeo of Omaha, NE, Gino (Jane) Amodeo of Freeport, IL, and Daniel (Karen) Amodeo of Powell, OH. Her son Paul Amodeo passed away September 8, 2021. Carolyn has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation that will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation. A private family graveside ceremony will be held immediately following the funeral service at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeport, where Carolyn will be laid to rest.
