Clyde R. Hull, 65 of Forreston, IL passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at his home. He was born July 27, 1960 in Freeport, IL the son of James and Violet (Ferguson) Hull. Clyde graduated from Freeport High School in 1978. He married Barbara Ginger on June 20, 1981 at the United Methodist church in Forreston, IL. They happily shared 44 years together.
Clyde enjoyed participating in garden tractor pulls in Illinois, lowa and Wisconsin. Clyde and his wife, Barb, were very proud of the trophies they won on their weekend outings with their garden tractors. With the help of his brother in law, Richard, Clyde adapted one of his garden tractor to look like a miniature truck. Clyde also loved anything to do with John Deere tractors and tractor pulls.
For the duration of Clyde's life, if there was a car race going on you could find Clyde watching it and cheering his favorite drivers on. NASCAR races were his favorite. Clyde worked for NAPA auto parts for 47 years. He managed and co managed stores in Freeport, Rockford, Stockton, and Oregon during his career with NAPA. While being the manager at the Rockford location he received the Rockford Automotive Service Excellence / Parts Specialist award from NAPA Chicago Distribution Center.
Clyde is survived by his wife Barb of Forreston. His sisters; Joyce Erwin of San Antonio, Tx., Shirley (Larry) Pals, Betty Kurtz, both of Freeport and Penny Lentz of McConnell. Brothers; Thomas (Sharon) Hull and Donald (Carla) Hull, both of Freeport,IL. He is also survived by his brother in laws; David (Sandy) Ginger and Richard (Betty) Ginger and sister in laws; Estella Ginger and Bonnie (John) Oltmann and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Violet Hull; brother in laws Lynn Kurtz and Kenneth Lentz. Mother in law and father in law Clara and David Ginger.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday March 14, 2026 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Pastor Steve Gearing will officiate. Visitation 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday March 13, 2026 also at Burke Tubbs, Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Clyde's memory.
