Cordie (Cordelia) Gloria Mantua, Born in Colorado on April 20, 1935, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her devoted family. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Bertha (Jaramillo) Rael, sister Anna Marie Coleman (Rael), brother Raymond Rael, brother in law Giustino Mantua, and her husband Andrew Mantua. She is survived by her two children: Mark (Leslie) Mantua, and Elizabeth (Keith) Talbot, Grandchildren: Tony (Kelsey) Mantua, Grace (Juan Patino) and Claire Talbot, sister in law Francesca Mantua, Nephew Gino (Lori) Mantua, Siblings: Charlie Rael, Del Kogovsek, John Rael, Nick (Susan) Rael, Lucy Loomis, Bob (Norma) Rael, and Larry (Mabel) Rael, and large extended family. Cordie was very dedicated to her family. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and her Saturday Sibling calls. Cordie was Godmother (Madrina) to her niece Hillary Rael Payne. Cordie was a member of St Thomas Aquinas Church. She had been employed many years at Honeywell Micro Switch and briefly at Burgess Battery. After retirement she joined her husband Andy as Volunteers for the Freeport Area Church Cooperative (FACC) Food Pantry.
Cordie's funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday February 24, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Father Peter Snieg officiating (link for live stream of service https://tinyurl.com/Funeral-Cordie-Mantua). A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass. There will also be a visitation from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Monday, February 23, 2026 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home. Cordie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum. A memorial has been established in Cordie's memory.
