Doris Lee Koning

Doris Lee Koning, 89, of Freeport died Friday Decemebr 13, 2019 at FHN Memorial Hospital. She was born February 15, 1930 in Freeport the daughter of Herschel and Ruth (Rowland) Goard. On September 28, 1946 she married Robert E. Koning in Freeport. Robert passed away February 12, 2006. Doris enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, puzzles, helping others and most importantly spending time with her family. She is survived by her five daughters, Debra King of Rockford,IL, Wendy (Roger) Cary of North Carolina, Sandi (Mark) Diddens of Lena, IL, Sherrie (Mike) Grulke of Freeport, IL, and Julie (Ron) Howard of Mesick, MI. Also surviving Doris are 14 grand children, 26 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Doris is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons Douglas and Randy. Per Doris's wishes private family services will be held. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
