IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edna Mae
Haas
July 6, 1934 – February 21, 2026
Celebration of Life
Freeport Eagles Club
1:00 - 4:00 pm (Central time)
Edna Mae Haas, 88, died peacefully with family and friends around her. She had a big heart and would do anything or give anything she could to help anyone in need.
She was known as the card lady, she loved sending cards for birthdays, get well, thinking of you, or just no occasion at all cards. Sending a smile to someone to let them know someone cared and loved. She found so many of them at thrift stores, and lord she loved her thrift stores. She'd check out everything one end to the other. She'd sit in front of that card rack and read every one! She had so many cards she had a drawer of them all separated. Grandchildren would always get $2 bills in them for birthdays and holidays.
When she could walk better she would go to food pantries. She'd pick up her friends and of they'd go. Not that she needed much because she gave most of it away, but she loved being around people she would meet and become friends with. She loved to bowl in her younger years and dance. She loved country western music. She'd meet all friends down at the Labor Hall every weekend to relax and have a great time. She was what you'd call a people person, she loved talking to people from working at Pecks Newsstand to Farm and Fleet to Shopko where she met so many and treated them with respect and got respect in return.
Edna left behind a mostly loving family. Three children; Laura (Aaron) Curboy, Charles Jr. (Kim) Haas, and Cheryl (Todd) Wells; grandchildren; Dustin, Gary, Stone, Monica, Charles III, Chet, Abigail, Charlie, Nate, Casey, and Todd Jr; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Mary; parents Ada and Cliff; brothers Dale and David; sister Sue; grandson Aaron Lee, and so many of her close friends.
She was a fine lady and will be solely missed.
Per Edna’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the Freeport Eagles Club. A memorial has been established in Edna’s memory.
