Geoffrey L.
Symanek
July 15, 1950 – April 5, 2026
Geoffrey Lynn Symanek, 75, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5th, Easter Sunday.
Born and raised in Freeport, Geoffrey was a proud member of the community throughout his life. He attended Freeport High School, where he played football and developed a lifelong love of sports. He went on to pursue his passion for the arts, earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western Illinois University and later his Master of Fine Arts from Northern Illinois University.
Geoffrey was a dedicated and hardworking travelling salesman who built a successful career through his determination, strong work ethic, and natural ability to connect with people. He was known for his great personality, kindness, and the warmth he brought into every room.
Outside of work, Geoffrey had a deep passion for sports and was an avid Chicago Bears fan—proudly cheering “Da Bears” every season. He also found great joy in painting, expressing his creativity through art. Each year, he participated in Freeport’s Art in the Park, where he proudly displayed and sold his paintings to the local community.
Geoffrey is survived by his loving sons, Lance Symanek and Blair Symanek; his cherished grandson, Bradley Symanek; his daughter-in-law, Lauren Symanek; and his cousins, Paula Shewman Rawleigh, and her husband, Paul Rawleigh.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his strong spirit, and the love he had for his family, his friends, his community, and the simple joys in life.
To honor Geoffrey's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation rites have been accorded.
