Glenn William Underwood

Glenn William Underwood, 97, of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday November 22, 2025, in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 14, 1928, in Freeport, IL, the son of Hobart and Katherine (Dickman) Underwood. On October 21, 1961, he married Marilyn Eberle in Freeport, IL. Glenn served in the United State Air Force as an airplane mechanic. He then returned home and worked at Kelley Springfield as a large rear farm press operator, retiring after 33 years. Glenn could fix anything, and he loved tinkering with things. Working on cars was his true therapy and he took pride in maintaining his cars. After retiring, his new hobby became working outside. Above all, family was very important to Glenn, and he had a special bond with his grandchildren that he cherished.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Freeport, IL; daughter Julie (Fred) Spaulding of Heyworth, IL; daughter-in-law Karen Underwood of Freeport, IL; three grandchildren Jessica (Aaron) Hodges, Amelia (Derek) Rhoney, Christopher (Jessica) Underwood; two step-grandchildren Nathan Spaulding and Shane Spaulding; and four great-grandchildren

Preceding Glenn in death are his parents, son Timothy, and two brothers Donald and Robert.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for FHN Hospice.
