James Patrick Nye, 85, of Freeport, Il, passed away Friday May 8, 2026 at Allure of Stockton, Stockton, IL. He was born October 10, 1940 in Freeport, IL, the son of Boyd and Agatha (Hoffman) Nye.

James married Barabara Hille, the mother of his children.

James worked for Bob Allyn Masonry in Las Vegas, NV. He was a member of The Freeport Eagles Club #679. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

James is survived by his son, Tim Nye of Freeport, Il; daughters, Kim Nye of Freeport, IL, Connie Drake; and Denise Theiler of Monticello, WI; three brothers, Joe Nye, John (Linda) Nye, and Dan (Diana) Nye; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathleen Oxley and Coleen Zimmerman; three brothers, William, Robert and Michael Nye; and granddaughter, Amanda.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or services. A memorial has been established in his memory.
