Janette Ann Thomas

Janette Ann Thomas, 82, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Janette was born on March 29, 1930 in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Elvin and Helen (Peters) Wiley. On October 13, 1948 Janette married Nicholas R. Thomas in Petersburg, IL. Janette and Nick have been married for 64 years. Janette was a homemaker. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church. Janette enjoyed reading, music, dancing, playing the piano and baking. She loved swinging on the porch swing at the lake house in Lake Geneva, watching the people and boats go by. Janette and her husband also enjoyed wintering in Brownsville, Texas. Most of all Janette enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Nicholas R. Thomas; sons, Nicholas J. (Dawn) Thomas of Hanover and Ted W. (Kathy) Thomas of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter, Linda K (Terry) Kirch of Naperville; grandchildren; Andrea Kirch, Matthew (Kelly) Kirch, Jacqlyn Thomas, Eric Thomas, and Kevin Thomas. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Mackensie and Katelyn Kirch. Janette was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Wiley and sister, Nancy Toepfer. Memorial services will be at noon Saturday, January 12, 2013 at United Presbyterian Church, 302 West Stephenson. Pastor Kathleen Luke will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the Church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Janette'™s memory.
