Janice M. Ackerman

Janice M. Ackerman, 86, of Freeport, IL died May 5, 2026 at Brookdale Memory Care in Middleton, Wisconsin, after battling dementia for several years. She was the daughter of Frank and Marjorie (Shippy) Ackerman. Born Sept 12, 1939, at her parents’ home in Freeport. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1957 and went to work immediately at Micro Switch where she worked for 42 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother, Gerald Ackerman, nephew, Roger Ackerman, nieces Mary Beth Ackerman and Amy Stabenow.

She is survived by brother Donald (Donna) Ackerman Prairie Du Sac, WI , Daniel Ackerman, Middleton, WI, Deborah (Howard) Tucker, Littleton, CO, Michael (Lizzy) Ackerman Madison, WI, Allison (John) Milan Carrboro, NC. And several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass 11:00 am Saturday May 9, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Matthew McMorrow will officiate. Visitation 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
