Jerline Turner, 92 of Freeport, Illinois, went from her earthly home to her heavenly home peacefully, Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
She was born January 20,1934 in West, MS., the daughter of Clarence and Ruthie Mae (Riley) Turner. Jerline attended school in Mississippi. After moving to Freeport, IL, she joined the Evangelistic Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Dr. William Kelly Moore. At his demise, she was under the leadership of Supt. William Harry Hudson, Elder Willie L. Collins and was currently under the leadership of Pastor Adron Simmons.
Jerline was a devoted and dedicated servant who loved the Lord, her pastor, her family and church family. She served as an usher, choir member, cook, and whatever her hands could find to do in the church. She walked everywhere she could and NEVER complained.
Her employment included; Burgess Battery, Structo, Freeport Memorial Hospital, and Micro Switch, where she worked until her retirement. After her retirement she volunteered at the Freeport Area Church Cooperative (FACC).
She was a caregiver to her father, and to most of her younger sisters and brothers who moved to town. Her home was their home. Her nickname was “Mama Jeryl” because of her nurturing and caring disposition.
She lived a full life. She loved to travel, attend family reunions, taking vacations, most notably flying to the state of Hawaii.
She leaves to cherish her memories, five brothers; Clarence (Theresa) Turner, Jr. of Gary, IN, Bossie Lee (Mary Ann) Turner of Grand Prairie, TX, Melvin (Dorothy) Turner of Elk Grove, CA, Charles (Ann) Turner and Robert Turner both of Freeport, IL. Three sisters; Annie Chatman, Margurite Turner & Evelyn Williams all of Freeport, IL and sister-in-law; Ida Jean Turner of Freeport, IL. 13 nieces, 15 nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Eddie Lee Turner and Lee Earl Turner, two sisters; Lourine Greenwood, and Lucille Davis and two brother-in-laws, Elder Floyd Davis and Lee Williams.
