Joann A. Davis

Joann A. (Meinert) Davis, 74, of Freeport, passed away, Monday August 5, 2024, in her home. Joann was born September 3, 1949, in Freeport, the daughter of Kenneth Lee and Catherine Genevieve (Miller) Meinert. She was a 1967 graduate of Aquin High School. She retired from Honeywell/Micro Switch after 41 years. She was also the popcorn lady at the Freeport Raceway. Joann was a member of Freeport Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Club. She liked to play cards, bingo, and travel with her friends.

Joann is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Broege of Freeport; son, James Davis of Freeport; two grandchildren, Haley Broege and Riley Davis; and one sister, Judy Carey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Richard Meinert.

Funeral mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday August 13, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Fr. Peter Snieg will officiate. Visitation 9:00 am until the time of service at St. Thomas. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Joann’s memory.
