SAUK CITY – Joel F. Beverley, age 64, died unexpectedly after a brief illness on September 23, 2025.
He was born on January 26, 1961, in Freeport, Illinois and attended Freeport High School. Joe was involved with the produce business at a very young age, assisting with the family business at the Market Place and Freeport Produce with his brother Dave. The entrepreneurial spirit of the Beverley Family transcended to Joe, and he started his own “farm stand” business in several communities in Northern Illinois and eventually Wisconsin. In 2015, Joe and Peggy established a business relationship with the Amish Community in Fennimore, Wisconsin, supplying their farm stand with fresh fruits, vegetables, and seasonal plants. Most recently Joe and his wife Peggy operate “Picker’s Place” in Sauk City, Wisconsin. Joe loved attending Amish auctions regularly to keep their business stocked with fresh goods. Over the years, the relationship with the Amish Community grew to be more than business; a true friendship was established.
Joe is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Angelynn, grandchildren: Kaden, Gracie, Brady, and Hazel. He is further survived by his brothers: Tim, Dave (Ann), Dan, and Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Roseann, and his brother Rick.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the Amish Community for their support during Joe's illness and since his death. Your assistance is greatly appreciated and your comforting thoughts and memories have eased our loss.
