Kavan "Kevin" Genoris Brown

Kavan "Kevin" G. Brown, 66, of Freeport, IL, passed away Saturday May 3, 2025 at Alden Alma Nelson Manor in Rockford, IL. He was born October 14, 1958 in Chicago, IL, the son of Louis and Rose (Hurt) Brown. On August 28, 1982 he married Brenda Daniel in Chicago, IL. Brenda passed away September 17, 2023. Kevin served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport. Kevin was a great cook that loved to cook for others. He also loved the outdoors and being with family. Kevin never met a stranger and he was always willing to help anyone.

He is survived by his two daughters Zinanta (Ramero) Stidmon of Freeport, IL and Kewanda Brown of Freeport, IL; son Carlos Brown of Chicago, IL; three sisters Patricia Brown of Fort Wayne, IN, Unita Brown of Chicago, IL, and Glinda Brown of Chicago, IL; and three grandchildren Jakel, Tyler, and Ryleigh.

Preceding Kevin in death are his parents, wife Brenda, brother-in-law Fredrick Daniels, and three nephews Terez Brown, Termaine Brown, and Garvio Ross.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday May 24, 2025 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport, Rev. Antwon Funchess Sr. officiating . A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service. Cremation rites have been accorded for following the funeral service. A memorial has been established in his memory.
