It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Krista Onna Darleen Gronewold, who passed away at her home on June 29, 2026, at the age of 36, surrounded by loved ones.

Krista was born in 1990 in Rockford, Illinois. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, especially her children, whose lives were the center of her world. She was a devoted and loving mother, a loyal friend, and someone whose warm heart and welcoming smile made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Krista was well known throughout her community and built countless friendships through her kindness, compassion, and genuine care for others.

Krista is survived by her beloved children, Lilliana Roxanne Faye Gronewold and Jaxson Richard Gronewold; her brother, John Mains; her sister, Jenny Mains; and her father, Jon Mains (Laurie Holston Millard). She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory and carry her love in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Fonda Mains, and her beloved twin brother, Joshua Mains, whose memories she carried with her throughout her life.

Krista's life, though far too short, touched many people. She will be remembered for the love she gave, the friendships she treasured, the laughter she shared, and the lasting impact she made on all who knew her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Kayla Thomas and Deanne Groen for the extraordinary love, compassion, and unwavering support they showed Krista. Their kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for her will never be forgotten and will always be deeply appreciated.

A memorial visitation to celebrate Krista's life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston, Illinois. A memorial service will begin at 5:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory, share stories, and celebrate a life that touched so many.

Krista will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
