Leroy Lyle Shadle

Leroy Lyle Shadle, 90, of Freeport, passed away, Saturday May 16, 2026, at Parkview Home. Leroy was born June 15, 1935, in Freeport, the son of Thomas and Viola (Campbell) Shadle. Leroy proudly served his country in the US Army in Germany. He married Virginia Hardacre on May 9, 1959, in Pearl City. He worked for the Journal Standard before moving on to own and operate L&S Label Printing. Leroy enjoyed traveling and following the Chicago Cubs.

Surviving is his wife, Virginia Shadle of Freeport; three sons, Greg (Vicki) Shadle, Scot (Kim Ozee) Shadle and Brett (Marie) Shadle; daughter, Lauri Allen; eight grandchildren, Kristin Allen, Leigh (Dave) Griesbach, Keith (Amber) Lehnherr, Hannah Shadle, Torry (Matt) Fry, Savanna (Austin Scholten) Shadle , Elliot Shadle, and Alden Shadle; also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, Brooks, Oliver, Simon, Adelena, Alex, Ayden, Asher, Cole, Clay, and Max.

Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Friday May 22, 2026, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation 9:30 am until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for Tunnel to Towers, Salvation Army, and Samaritan’s Purse in Mr. Shadle’s memory.
