Linda Lou Genkinger

Linda Lou Genkinger, 86, of Freeport, passed away, Tuesday August 25, 2026, at Mercyhealth Hospital. Linda was born March 28, 1940, in Everetts, IL., the daughter of Schuyler M. and Lois (Stockton) Pierce. She married Martin Leroy Genkinger on June 13, 1959, in Forreston. Mr. Genkinger passed away, July 1, 2025. She was employed at Micro Switch for 33 years. Linda was a member of the Women of Moose and Freeport Bowling Association.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Genkinger of Freeport; daughter, Karen (Ed) Holden of Freeport; sister, Mary Beyer of Glendale, AZ.; five grandchildren, David (Samnatha) Genkinger, Andrea (Zack) Bullard, Chris Holden, Matt Otto, and Eddie Holden Jr.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday August 28, 2026, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Visitation 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling, IL. A memorial has been established in her memory.
