Lois E. Swalve Boland, of Gresham, Oregon, and formerly of Forreston, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 31, 1928, Lois was the daughter of Magnus and Grace (Waterbury) Rugland.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Kirby, and her grandchildren, Josh Kirby, Juli Kirby, and Whitney Kirby Berger; and great-grandchildren Hattie Kirby, Jack Kirby, Anna Berger, and John Berger, all of Portland, Oregon. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin Swalve and Bill Boland; and her siblings, Ralph Rugland and Doris Burton.

Lois lived a long and full life marked by devotion to her family and an enduring zest for simple joys. She loved spending time with her loved ones, playing euchre, bowling, reading, doing crafts, and the occasional trip to the casino. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston, Illinois, on Saturday, November 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her honor.
