A LIFE WELL LIVED

Mable Deloris McGee was the fifth child born to Leroy and Rosie Belle McGee, May 24, 1942, in Quitman, MS. She was raised in a home with strong Christian values.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a neighbor whose kindness, generosity, and love touched countless lives. She departed this life May 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family and her community.

Mable attended and graduated from Shirley Owens High School, where she formed lasting friendships and prepared for a future filled with purpose and determination.

Following graduation, Mable relocated to Freeport, IL, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and service to others. She was a dedicated and faithful employee of Micro Switch for many years before retiring. Her strong work ethic and commitment earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and friends.

Mable’s greatest joy was her family. She was the mother of three: Michael, Thelma, and Keith, the grandmother of seven: Kimberly, Michael II, Alexandra, Ebony, Allen, Justin, and Jordyn; and the great grandmother of two: Izaiah and LaMya.

Known throughout Freeport for her extraordinary cooking, Mable had a gift for bringing people together around the table. Family gatherings, holidays, and everyday meals were made special by her culinary talents. Many would say there was no one in Freeport who could cook quite like Mable. Cooking was more than a hobby, it was her way of expressing love, creating memories, and caring for others.

Beyond her kitchen, Mable found joy in helping those in need. She never hesitated to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or share what she had with others. Her generous spirit and caring heart made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Mable Deloris McGee will be remembered for her warm smile, her delicious meals, her selfless service, and the love she shared so freely. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through her children, family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will remain in our hearts forever.

Her transition has left a void in her children: Michael, Gautier, MS; Thelma, Wichita Falls, TX; and Keith (Felicia), Jackson, MS; her grandchildren: Kimberly Love, Portsmouth VA; Michael McGee II, Chicago, IL; Alexandra McGee, Chicago, IL; Ebony Calcote, Grapevine, TX; Allen Calcote, Wichita Falls, TX; Justin McGee and Jordyn McGee, both of Jackson, MS; and two great grandchildren: Izaiah and LaMya Love, both of Chicago, IL; her siblings: Carolyn Lenoir, Sharron Dear, Willie Frank McGee (Gwendolyn), Rosie McGee Brown, and Gary McGee (Shelinda); her sister-in-law, Carolyn McGee; bonus daughters: Latrice Allen, Freeport, IL; Kayla Allen, Jefferson City, MO; a bonus grandson, Logic Fane, Freeport and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
