Marcia R. Bollinger Hartman, aged 73, died peacefully on January 11, 2024 after a brief battle with cancer. Marcia was born in November 1950, in Freeport Illinois to John R. Bollinger and Alice Lawson Bollinger.
Marcia was a lifelong resident of Freeport and worked extremely hard in food service and real estate to raise her family. She was a warrior for her family, especially her children... and she considered many people to be her children beyond her biological ones.
Marcia was a sassy, kind, and very real human. In short, (and she was short!) she was a bad-ass. It's been said that you knew when Marcia loved you ... and when she didn't. She was generous to a fault, but did not suffer fools, liars, or hypocrites silently.
Marcia leaves behind a community of people who love her and a legacy of kindness and tenacity. She is survived by her children: Troy (Lisa) Bollinger, Angela Hartman, and Ben Hartman; Her brother Mike (Mary) Bollinger; Her friend Jack; Her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother as well as her brother Cliff.
Her family will announce a date for a celebration of life to be held in Freeport this summer. A memorial fund has been established to help support and care for her two adopted minor children. Donations can be sent to the family here:
