Mark William Witte

Mark William Witte passed away in the morning on May 31, 2026, at home. He was born on June 3, 1958, in Freeport, IL to Kendel and Virginia Witte.

Mark was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and a 1976 graduate of Freeport High School. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats. Mark was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. His real passion was the time he spent working on his hot rods and with his family and friends.

Mark is survived by his wife Lanell Munson; daughter, Noell Witte; mother, Virginia Witte; siblings, Kendel Steven (Susan) Witte, John Charles (Pamela) Witte, Mary Christine (Gregrey) Williams and Joseph Karl (Connie) Witte; many nieces and nephews; life-long best friends, the Walter and Deb Gitz family; and heart daughter, Sara Beightol. Preceded in death by his father, Kendel; grandparents, Charles and Adele Miller and Karl and Georgie Witte, uncles, Ed Witte, Alvin Miller and Richard Miller;  and infant niece Hannah Williams.

A Visitation will be held at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL on Monday, June 8th from 3:00 until 4:00 pm, with Funeral Service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mark’s name to the family for a donation to be made in his name at a later date.
