After a life filled with joy and love, Martha Ann Cahoon, 75, joined her cherished pups at the Rainbow Bridge on January 29th, 2026 for an eternal walk in the sunshine. Marti was born September 18th, 1950 to Frederick (Fritz) and Thelma Hoelscher in Freeport, Il.
She attended Freeport High and went on to Madison Business College. Martha moved to Arizona, soon finding employment at WM Grace Company where she was in her 43rd year. The company was a second family to her and where she met her beloved husband, Roger Cahoon. Martha and Roger were married for 38 years.
Marti was generous with time, love and friendship. She and Roger shared their enjoyment of camping and cocktails with many friends and family. Marti had a beautiful vegetable garden she tended and would use in her own recipes. She was a wonderful cook, who believed a recipe was a gift meant to be shared, ensuring her memory will live on for generations in numerous family kitchens. Marti will be remembered warmly by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Roger Cahoon, sister, Melinda Ferguson, nieces, Jennifer (Ferguson) Holton, Nicole (Cahoon) Kowalski, nephews, Tim Ferguson, Chase Cahoon and Matt Cahoon. Aunt Marti, as she was known to her great nieces and nephews, will be honored and remembered lovingly. Martha was led into eternal sunshine by both her parents, Fritz & Thelma, Roger’s parents Ginny and Spence and her brother-in-law Tom Ferguson, Jr.
Marti loved her pups and we take comfort in knowing at the end of her path she was greeted with the wagging tails of her fury friends she missed so dearly. It is with that in mind we ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society in her memory at https://www.azhumane.org/memorial-tribute-gifts/ .
A Celebration of Matha’s life will be held, Saturday, March 14th, 1-5 pm at their home. Please join us to share memories of Marti with others she touched. Questions please reach Jennifer Holton: 815.238.1760 or Nicole Kowalski: 602.826.0121
