Marvin Eugene Harris, 84, received his angel wings on April 11,2026 with his wife and daughter by his side holding his hands. Marv fought 11 long years against Parkinson’s. Born February 3,1942 in Rockford IL. Son of Theodore & Gladys Harris.
He graduated from Freeport High School in 1962 and served in the National Guard. Marv worked at Gambles, Leo’s Gas Station, Western Tire, Koym Electric and managed the family’s Yodel Bake Shop before owning Replicast Alloys, a spin casting business. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church. Marvin married Gail Larson on August 6,1967 at First Lutheran Church in Freeport. Marv & Gail spent 58 1/2 wonderful years of marriage with a beautiful family. He gave Gail a new 1967 VW Bug as a pre-wedding gift, their favorite color blue. Marv was a man of many talents and lots of knowledge to share. He loved his family, 39 Ford cars, collecting die cast VW Bugs, military vehicles & S-Scale Trains. He had a love of music and singing. When his children were young, he enjoyed building a Star Wars collection & Ninja Turtles with his sons and Strawberry Shortcake with his daughter.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Gail Harris and 3 children. Son, Daryl (Maria) Harris of Carrollton, VA, daughter, Lori Queckboerner of Lanark, IL and son, Jeffrey Harris of Littleton, CO. 6 Grandchildren, Jaime (Chris) Parrish, Justin Harris, Steven Berringer, Shawn (Heather) Berringer, Baily (Christy) Queckboerner, and Kortney (Charlie) Lake. 15 Great Grandchildren, Mila, Magnolia & Conor Parrish, Kylie, Haiden, Tyson, Skylar, Kinsley, & Merrick Berringer, Jordan Wilson, Mariah & Claude Livingston IV, Ellie Joy Queckboerner, and Cooper & Deaken Hanson. Brother In-Law, Eric (Brenda) Larson and nephews, Chad (Christie) Larson & Chris (Veronika) Larson
He is preceded by, his parents, Theodore & Gladys Harris, In-Laws, Sherman & Betty Larson, Grandson, Claude Livingston III, and brother, Daryl Harris of CO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday April 17,2026 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Greathouse officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Marvin's memory.
