Mildred J. Harbers, 107, of Freeport, IL, passed away Wednesday October 9, 2025 at Parkview Home of Freeport. Mildred was born October 8, 1918 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of William and Margaret (McCulloch) Morick. Mildred married Harry Dailey on April 16, 1939 in Dubuque, IA. Harry passed away September 18, 1976. On 6/13/1982, Mildred married Christian Harbers. Christian passed away November 1, 1991. For many years Mildred was a Nursing Home Administrator at Freeport Manor and Belvidere Manor. Her hobbies included playing scrabble, China painting, and reading her bible. Mildred had a strong faith and a positive outlook at all times. She was an inspiration to many.
She is survived by her daughter Maureen Baldwin; six grandchildren Debra Wenger, Lorrie (Jerry) Boomgarden, Harry Dailey, Patti Dailey, Rick Dailey, and Julie (John) Fultz; daughter-in-law Eleaner Dailey; numerous great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends who were like family.
Preceding Mildred in death are her two husbands; two sons Stuart on 3/2/18 and Harry on 3/6/20. Three brothers Gene Morick, William Morick, and Wesley Morick; daughter in law Sharon Dailey, son-in-law Douglas Baldwin; and great-grandson Adam.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 18, 2025 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL, Pastor Debra Wenger officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery next to her husband Christian. A memorial has been established in Mildred’s memory. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Parkview Homes, Northern Illinois Hospice and FHN palliative care for their wonderful care and support.
