ORADELL FRICKS, 90, Freeport, IL, departed this life Saturday, November 8, 2025, after a short illness. Born February 7, 1935, in Chidester, Arkansas, the son of Jewel and Bessie Fricks. On May 27, 1957 Oradell married Clara Mae Wiley in Flint, MI. In 1990, Oradell retired from Chas Levy Circulating Company after 33 years with perfect attendance and never a late day.
Oradell was a long-time member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (Freeport, IL) until he became a full-time caregiver of his wife. He was known throughout the community for his kind heart to strangers and friends. A man of discipline, a God-fearing man, a family man, and a man who would steer you in the right direction. Oradell was known for his witty humor and an avid Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
Oradell leaves to cherish: His loving wife Clara; daughters; Una R Shorter (Herbert) and Bridgette V Fricks, 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; brother, Leonard Fricks Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents; daughter, Vivian Gaye Wilkerson-Chess; granddaughter, Katisha Gaye Wilkerson; brothers, Eyules and James Fricks; and sister Versie Simmons.
Service at 11am Saturday, November 22, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Homes, 504 N Walnut Avenue, Freeport, IL 61032. Visitation from 9 a.m. to time of service. Burial in Freeport City Cemetery, 902 W Lincoln Street, Freeport, IL 61032. The Repast dinner will be held at Grand River Hall, 101 South Liberty Avenue, Freeport, IL 61032.
