Peter Francis Kendrick, 92, of Freeport, passed away, Thursday morning on February 5, 2026, surrounded by his daughters and his hospice nurse. Mr. Kendrick was born May 29, 1933, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Francis and Margaret (Heinz) Kendrick. He married Eleanor Kay Bogard on September 14, 1957, in Abingdon, Illinois, at All Souls Church. Eleanor passed away February 8, 2018. Peter proudly served his country in US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Kendrick was Superintendent for both the Freeport Country Club and Baraboo Country Club, before owning and operating Brush Creek Golf Course in Orangeville. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pretzel City Pool League, and Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
Peter is survived by his children, Margaret Kendrick Baxter (Brian) of Baraboo, WI, Peter (Tom) Kendrick (Molly) of Baraboo, WI, and Elizabeth Kendrick Chapman (Steven) of Orangeville, IL; sister Kathryn Kendrick Severns of Abingdon, IL; four grandchildren Rachel Coonley of Gilbert, AZ, Olivia Lamoreux (Isaac) of Dakota, IL, and Caitlin Chapman (Jules) of Chicago, IL and Cooper Chapman of Abingdon, MD; two step-grandchildren Dylan (Kristen) Baxter of Chippewa Falls, WI and Taylor Baxter Woodruff (Cody) of Menomonie, WI; and three great-grandchildren Isabel and Magnusson Coonley, and Lydia Lamoreux; two step-great grandchildren, Jack and Calvin Baxter; and one sister-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Horaney, of Laguna Hills, CA and many nieces & nephews.
Mr. Kendrick was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor, son Todd Patrick Kendrick, his only brother Frank (Michael) Kendrick, and sisters Ann, Mary, Sally, and Margaret.
Pete loved God and Family. He was a devout Catholic. He also loved people, especially his lifelong friends that he outlived. He loved sports, especially golf and pool.
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Matthew McMorrow will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of mass. A memorial has been established in Mr. Kendrick’s memory.
