Phyllis J. Clark, 94, of Red Oak, IL, passed away Friday November 21, 2025, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 17, 1931, in Eleroy, IL, to Lloyd and Ethel Mae (Branthaver) Cowan. Phyllis worked at Honeywell as an inspector in mercury and after retiring from Honeywell she was a bailiff at the Stephenson County Courthouse. She enjoyed dirt racing and loved to attend anywhere it was held. Phyllis was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. Most of all, Phyllis loved her family, and she enjoyed spending time with them.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Larry) Monehan of Freeport, IL; stepdaughter Penny Brandt of Monroe, WI; four grandchildren, Jeff (Melissa) Leverington, Danny (Stephanie) Halzel, Angie (Shane) Riggle, and Jason (Bonnie) Leverington; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding Phyllis in death is her parents, husband Elmer, daughter Kathleen Coates, brother Richard Cowan, and sister Doris Rapp.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday November 26, 2025, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Pastor Matthew Smith officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum.
