Our precious child, Rane Norbert Carroll-Lee, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Born June 17, 2025, he was a bright light in his family’s lives.
Only two months old, Rane was a quiet soul. He had just started to smile and communicate with the world through his baby noises and smiles. Nicknamed “Froggy” because of him being an incredibly jumpy boy in his mommas belly, his name Rane means "little frog", he was much loved by his parents, Madyson and Michael Larter, and his two-year-old brother, Koda, and his five-year-old sister, Aanieya.
Rane was a special member of the Ojibwa tribe, who believe we will be known forever by the tracks we leave in this world. Although here such a short time, Rane’s tracks have left an indelible print in all of our hearts. There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world, and Rane left his on all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his older brother, Koda(2), and older sister, Aanieya(5) and his grandparents, Kim and Andy McIver of Freeport, Kevin and Pamela Roach of Freeport, Jim and Kim Oakes of Winnebago and Alvan Larter and Lisa White of Mounds View, MN. Along with so many family and friends his precious soul touched already.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, from 9-11 a.m. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N Walnut Ave, Freeport, IL. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grace Valley Christian Reformed Church Cemetery, 8210 E Edwardsville Rd, German Valley, IL, where he will be laid to rest next to his great grandmother and great grandfather, Thomas and Sandra Slater. The family is asking that everyone wear something green or froggy in honor of a beautiful frog prince gone too soon.
