Robert Alan Althoff Jr.

Robert A. Althoff Jr., 66, of Byron, died in his home on Sunday September 25, 2016. Robert was born on February 26, 1950 in Freeport, the son of Robert A. and Mildred (Kielman) Althoff. He married Tamra "Tami' Kearns on August 26, 1999 in Oregon, Illinois. Robert was a 20 year employee of Smith Ford and later worked at the Byron Nuclear Plant. He was a volunteer for the Forreston Fire Department where he served as Assistant Fire Chief. Robert enjoyed riding his Harley. Surviving are his wife, Tami Althoff; children, Natalie (Matt) Althoff of Forreston, Cori (Chris) Ingram of German Valley, Tabitha (Ron) Billy of Freeport, Tony (Becky) Greenfield of Shannon, and Collin (Jackie) Greenfield of Forreston; sister, Karen (Ted Conrad) Shrader of Lexington, N.C.; also surviving are 12 grandchildren and special companion Buddy. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of Life will take place Saturday October 1, 2016 at the Forreston Fire Department from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory.
