Robert Erwin Plock

Robert Erwin “Bob” Plock died peacefully on November 3, 2026 in Freeport, Illinois at the age of 93.

Robert was born on May 22, 1933 in Shannon, Illinois to Erwin F. and Katherine R. (Wilhelm/Sturtevant) Plock. In 1942 he and his family moved to German Valley, Illinois and he lived there the remainder of his life. He graduated from Pleasant Prairie Academy in 1951. Robert initially worked for his brother-in-law, Nelson Stein, hauling canned milk. From 1953-1955 Robert served in the United States Army and spent sixteen months in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning from his service, Robert married Donna M. (Willemssen) on January 28, 1956. He was employed by Stein Brothers Trucking until 1959, and then he started working at Micro Switch where he stayed until his retirement in 1994.

Robert was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in German Valley. He served on the GV volunteer fire department from 1955 - 1971 with the last three years serving as Chief. Robert also served as scout master with Boy Scout Troop 30 for many years. In 1980 he was a charter member of the German Valley Lions Club and served as Illinois District Governor from 1993-1994. Robert and Donna loved to spend their retirement years camping and traveling to see grandchildren.

Robert is lovingly survived by his children: Debbie (Kevin) Daws, RaeAnn (Randy) Miller and Denise Plock. Grandchildren: Erica (Jesse) Morgan, Katie (Ryan) Cerney, Jordan (Rachel) Plock, Brent (Alicia)Plock, Marissa (Miles) McShane, Connor (Staci) Daws, Dylan Daws, Corbin (Helena) Miller, Cortney Miller, and Bryce Miller. Great-Grandchildren: Gavin Cerney, Kailey Plock, Mackenzie Morgan, Matthew Plock, Gemma Cerney, Paisley Plock, Ashton McShane, Reagan Plock, Zion McShane, Ruby McShane and Baby Miller arriving the spring of 2027. Robert is also survived by his sister-in-law Henrietta Willemssen.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Donna, all three of his sons: Ricky L. Plock, Ronald E Plock, and Donald T. Plock, sisters Betty Plock, Mae Stein and Evelyn Diddens, Brothers-in-law Nelson Stein, Alvin Diddens, Jack Ross and Sister-in-law Margie Ross.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday November 12, 2026, at German Valley United Methodist Church. Pastor Rachel Grover will officiate. Visitation from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday November 11, 2026 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. There will also be a visitation at the Church from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
