Rodney A. Baker

Rodney A Baker 69, departed this earthly life on June 11, 2025.

Rodney worked for the State of Illinois with Mentally disabled adults for over 33 years and had recently retired. He loved basketball and was an avid player. He played in many leagues in Freeport and Rockford. Known to many as "Hot Rod"!

Rodney was also a cyclist and participated in many marathons or rode for enjoyment. He also enjoyed playing chess and welcomed whoever came to challenge his wit.

Rodney A Baker was born in Kewanee IL, to the late Carlton V Baker Sr and Christine O. Baker, on April 5, 1956.

Rodney leaves to cherish his memory 1 son Correy J Baker, 2 Brothers Lawrence ( Melody) Warden of Waycross, GA, and Carlton V Baker Jr of Freeport IL. 5 sisters Judith A Baker, Kimberly S ( Lucius) Jones, and Terri L Baker of Freeport, Dorcas J Baker of Independence, MO and Adrienne D Baker of North Dakota. A Special friend Karlene Johnson and cousin/brother Eric (Rosalind) Barr.

Rodney is proceeded in death by his parents Carlton V Baker and Christine O Bell, sister Deborah K Meeks, brother Kevin L Baker and nephew Avari D Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on June 20th , 2025 at Mt. Calvary C.O.G.I.C. 420 Challenge St. Freeport, IL. 61032.

Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 2514 IL-26 Freeport, IL 61032.
