Ruby L. Bartlett, 96, of Freeport, and formerly of Janesville, died Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Home in Freeport. Ruby was born February 19, 1921 in Stockton, Illinois, the daughter of John and Irma (Wenger) Heilman. She married Floyd Bartlett July 5, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. Mr. Bartlett died in April of 2000. Ruby and Floyd were blessed in marriage for 60 years. Before adopting their two children they fostered many newborn infants. Ruby graduated from Rockford School of Practical Nursing in 1968, receiving her L.P.N. diploma. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, and Rock County Health Care Center. After retiring she did Home Health Care Nursing. She was a 10 year volunteer for Rock County Hospice Care. Family and friends were the most important part of Ruby's life. She was a member of Zion Church in Freeport. Surviving are son, James Bartlett of Michigan; daughter, Vicky Gibney of Madison, WI.; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Floyd; four brothers, five sisters, one grandson, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 27, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Rev. Ken Lawson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Janesville, Wisconsin. A memorial has been established for Rotary Botanical Gardens of Janesville in Ruby's memory.
