Ryan Lynn Meyer, 78, of Freeport died Tuesday, June 9, in Meriter Hospital, Madison, Wisconsin.

He was born February 25,1948 in Freeport Illinois, the son of Kenneth R. and Eldora (Hutmacher) Meyer. He spent his childhood years in Scioto Mills. Later his family moved to Freeport, rural Freeport, before settling in Pearl City, where he graduated High School in 1966. Ryan married the love of his life, Jane Kuhlmeyer on April 12,1969 in Pearl City, Illinois. Together they shared 57 years of love, laughter, and companionship. Mr. Meyer was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany during the Vietnam era. He worked as an Auto Mechanic for 45 years working at several GM Auto Dealerships.

Ryan enjoyed working with his hands and could fix almost anything. Restoring his black 1964 Chevrolet 4x4 truck was one of his passions. Ryan loved to tinker with electronics, model cars and NASCAR models were his favorite. He also enjoyed small game and mushroom hunting, fishing, woodcutting, and followed NASCAR especially following Dale Earnhardt and Jimmie Johnson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Eric (Ashley Buisker) Meyer of Scioto Mills; daughters, Brenda (Gary) Corp of Richland Center, Wisconsin and Dena (Jamie Dagle) of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, four grandchildren, Taylor Meyer, Dustin (Kimmy Field) Corp, Lacey (Ross) Breininger and Logan (Rachel) Corp; two great grandchildren, Axel Corp and Dawson Corp and one on the way; also surviving is his sister, Judith (Dwayne) Hoffman of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin.

Ryan was preceded in death by his parents; his in laws, Floyd and Geraldine Kuhlmeyer; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ryan always had a great sense of humor, which he passed on to his children. He will be forever missed by all who knew him, especially his wife and family.

Private family services will be held. Mr. Meyer will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery, Freeport, Illinois. A memorial has been established in his memory.
