Obituary

Sandra Elaine Turner, 88 of Freeport, IL, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on April 18, 2026. She was born in Baileyville, IL, on July 22, 1937, to Louis and Ruth (McCray) Kiser. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1955. She married James Turner on December 10, 1955. Together they raised four children.

They farmed the family farm in rural Ridott for over 45 years where she helped milk cows, feed calves and take care of the other livestock. She worked as a Walmart greeter after her husband passed for a number of years before retiring. Her hobbies included camping, boating, traveling, car rides, playing cards, and bowling.

She is survived by her children, Jamie Turner of Ridott, Pat (Mike) Adkins of Freeport, Randy (Laurie) Turner of Ridott, and Sue Tyler of Ridott. Grandchildren Jennifer Hardin of Laveen, AZ, Lindsay (Kyle) Vinnedge of Forreston, Katie (Adam) Bratley of Cedarville, and Nikki (Kyle Magnuson) Greenfield of Ashton. Great-grandchildren Hayden and Delaney Vinnedge, Madison Bratley, and Tucker and Astrid Magnuson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Lee Michael.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Jim, son-in-law Joe Tyler, and four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at Burke Tubbs on Tuesday, April 28th at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A private family burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL. Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial has been established in her name.
