Sara D. Haugen, 37, of Forreston, died at her home on Sunday July, 19, 2015 after a long illness. Born a prankster on April 1, 1978 in Freeport, IL. She went to school in Forreston, graduated from Christian Liberty Academy, and became a CNA. In her teens she spent a summer helping to build a church in the Ukraine. Sara enjoyed fishing, cooking, hunting for morels, family events, Mimmo's pizza, and Baumgartner's cheese sandwiches. Survivors include: son Jonas Haugen (16); parents Jeffrey and Diane (Day) Haugen; brother Ira Haugen and Amber (Weyhmiller) Haugen; sister and best friend Gabrielle (G.G.) Haugen; and grandfather Edward Day. She was preceded in death by Great-grandparents Salvatore DiGiovanni, Margarite (Pumilia DiGiovanni) Maggio, Leo Maggio, Byron Day, Mabel (Dorn) Day; grandparents Arthur and Ione (Meyer) Haugen, Margie (DiGiovanni) Day; great-aunt Rose Mary (DiGiovanni) Barnick; aunt Phyllis (Haugen) Esser; and cousin Linda Esser. A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 30, 2015 at Crossroads Community Church, 205 N. Jefferson Ave., Polo, with Rev. Jose Garcia officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.m. until the time of service at the church. A lunch will follow the service at the church.
