Sondra (Shippert) Gentry, age 54, of Freeport, Il, passed away on March 9th, 2026. Born on January 27, 1972, to parents, David (Estelle) Shippert and Karen (Jeff Asher) Ogburn.

Sondra was a compassionate spirit whose fevour was caring for others. She spent her days helping others breath as a Respiratory Therapist as well as taking side jobs for those in need. The mental drive, focus, and commitment needed for her job on the front line was admirable. But, it was her infectious smile, joyful spirit, and strong will that made her a ray of light in everyone’s life.

Sondra is loved and missed by her parents, stepsister Michelle Ditsworth, along with her treasured nieces and nephews, countless friends, and her FHN Hospital family, special friends Mark and Becky, and her beloved dog Maizie.

She was proceeded in death by her stepsister, Angela Stephenitch, and Brother, Robert Shippert.

Sondra was a giant, and powerful in her kindness, and will be missed so much by so many.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
