Stephen Arthur Hasenyager, 71, of Freeport, IL passed away Monday April 28, 2025 after an extended illness. He was born June 28, 1953 in Sterling, IL, the son of Kenneth and Roberta (Fitzgerald) Hasenyager. On July 28, 1978 he married LuAnn Quittschreiber at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Freeport. Steve worked at Eagles Grocery for many years as a Department Head. Following Eagles, Steve worked at FHN Memorial Hospital in Material Management. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as an Elder at church. Steve enjoyed fishing, golfing, puzzles, and watching his favorite TV shows NCIS and Bones. He also loved to work outside, whether it was taking care of his lawn or washing his car. Family was most important to Steve and he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandson Kaleb.
Steve is survived by his wife LuAnn of Freeport, IL; two daughters Amy (Kevin) White of Freeport, IL and Lisa (James) Hasenyager-Schute of Issaquah, WA; five brothers Paul Hasenyager of Rockford, IL, Dennis (Virginia) Hasenyager of Alabama, Ed Hasenyager of Rockford, IL, Marty (Laura) Hasenyager of Rockton, IL, and Joe (Heather) Hasenyager of Wisconsin; three sisters Peggy (Bill) Hyser of Rockford, IL, Janet Lotter of Winnebago, IL, and Linda (Jeff) Misuraca of Colorado; and three grandchildren Kaleb, Nolan, and Hudson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Lynn.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday May 2, 2025 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Rev. Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Freeport.
